Birthday

It was Mindy's birthday yesterday, 25 years old (she has been 25 for a few birthdays, lol). Sherry, Mom, Brooklyn and myself had some ice cream cake and sang a quiet version of happy birthday.

Mindy's spirits have picked up a little as she can now hold something with her left hand (see pic). That is a big step and she is also walking. She does favor her left leg a little, but she is improving. The rehab doctor commented that she has never seen someone's arm come back so quickly. We all know Mindy, she is a fighter. She told that arm to get working, and it is.

Mindy said last night that she will probably be released on Friday, then its to Mom's house for further out-patient rehab. Her phone is on and would love to hear from anyone who wants to break up her busy day of rehab, then TV, then rehab, then TV. (702) 279-7159

(The pics were taken with a camera phone, not top quality. Ryan, can you get Blackberry on that?)

Rehab

Mindy has been moved tot rehab wing of the hospital. She went from a private room in the Neuro-Care wing to a barn like group room. She has a sheet separating her from the other people in room, needless say privacy is not an option.

Rehab is going better, as she can now squeeze with her left hand and can move her left shoulder a little. Still a long road to go but she is still fighting.

Mom, Dad, and Austin installed some railings at the house so she can get around a little easier. Mindy thinks they will release her sometime this week, and she will continue out-patient rehab.

Your prayers and well wishes are working, and much appreciated. Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

Hair Stylist

So mom and dad took pics of Mindy's head right after the bandage was taken off. The good news is they didnt have to shave much of her head. The flip side is the 40+ staples in there.

By the way, Mindy welcomes phone calls to Karen's (801-814-4804) or Brandon's phone (801-381-4151). She is out of the ICU and in the step down neuro care unit. Since just sits in her bed all day, she would love visits. Room 3130 at the University Hospital, Neuro Acute Care unit.

She has started rehab and is working on getting use back in her left arm. She can squeeze a little with her fingers, but nothing with her arm. So if you get in a fight with her, swing with your right, she wont be able to defend herself.

She was able to stand and side step, so the left leg is working a little better.

First pics from the OR

Just got back from seeing her. She is awake, and has one hell of a headache (imagine that). She said she is so smart that they probably took a little brain out cause its not fair she is smarter than everyone else. She then asked how her eye lashes looked (One nurse said they looked fabulous - she actual said fabulous). Apparently she is feeling better.

Well the doctor came out and talked to us about an hour and half ago. he said he thought the surgery went as well as expected. We are now going back to see her.

Almost done

We just got word they are closing up, everything went well, and she will be in ICU in the next hour or so. WHEW!!! That part is over, now its on to the recovery.

Update

So they announce over the loud speaker for the Weaver family update. We get a little nervous, a little excited (hoping for good news), and extremely anxious. We get to the counter, and this is what you get.

Thanks for the details!!!

We did just get another "Weaver Family" announcement. We got to the desk, and this time it was just a verbal "everything is going well". Apparently, the paper note was too much expense and way too much information. If anyone wants to donate to the hospital so they can afford the paper non-informative notes, that would be awesome.
